This was the central theme at the recent, prestigious Digital Trust Thailand 2026 conference, hosted by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) at the Grand Prestige Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
As businesses and government services rapidly move their operations online, digital trust has evolved from a routine IT requirement into a foundational pillar of national economic growth. Ensuring data integrity, securing transactions, and future-proofing critical systems against looming threats are now top priorities for organizations across the region.

The next phase of securing online ecosystems focuses on embedding security natively into business workflows, corporate document exchanges, and cross-border data flows. The goal is to ensure that every online interaction—whether it is a corporate contract or a government transaction—is entirely secure, legally binding, and aligned with rigorous global standards.
2. Setting the Stage for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
Among the most heavily discussed and critical topics at the conference was Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).

While quantum computers promise historic breakthroughs in processing power, they also pose an existential threat to modern cybersecurity. The standard public-key encryption algorithms that currently protect everything from global banking systems to state secrets will eventually be easily broken by a mature quantum computer.
Why the Urgency? Cybercriminals are already executing “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” attacks—stealing encrypted data today with the intention of unlocking it the moment quantum technology matures. Or as Securemetric Managing Director, Wo Swee Teck delve deeper and talk about “Harvest Now, Forge Later”, that attackers are now specifically targeting very sensitive information mainly on username and password credentials.
Industry players at the event strongly emphasized that the timeline to migrate to quantum-resistant algorithms is shrinking. Securemetric, alongside Utimaco, engaged in deep discussions with peers and partners on how organizations can begin their cryptographic discovery phase—identifying current vulnerabilities and structuring a seamless transition to PQC-ready hardware and software before the “quantum deadline” arrives.
3. Advancing the Next Generation of Digital Signatures & Certificate Authorities (CA)
Another core pillar of the Digital Trust Thailand event was the evolution of trusted identity verification via Digital Signatures and Certificate Authorities.
As organizations look to cut down paper processes, they are heavily adopting integrated document signing platforms. This infrastructure relies completely on a robust, highly secure Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
- Legally Binding Security: True digital signatures prevent document tampering and guarantee non-repudiation (ensuring a signer cannot deny their signature on a contract).
- Future-Proofing the CA: As Certificate Authorities issue the digital certificates that validate these identities, the underlying infrastructure must also transform. The conference highlighted the need for CA systems to evolve in tandem with PQC, ensuring that tomorrow’s corporate e-signatures remain secure against both classical and quantum threats.
